Then I decided to give Canon a try and bought recently a Canon 6D Mark II. Honestly, I'm SO disappointed. The camera doesn't focus well at all, I'm working with a Canon 50mm 1.8 lens and I simply loose lots of photos which never happened to me with Nikon. You can either use AF (autofocus) to focus on it and then set the lens' switch to MF (manual focus) or set focus mode to MF and use the dummy target to manually focus on the spot you intend to stand. full polarization shifted the focus a large amount, about 1 inch from original focus point. (not visible in camera optical finder, only in zoomed 100% on camera LCD) This has stunned me! I had been seeing the focus un-sharp on images of faces up close using my 70-200 IS 4.0 & my 24-105 which is why I ran the test. I went on this topic on the same issue. One year I was shooting on the Canon 6D and Sigma ART lens, 35 and 50 (Canon 6D is a three years old). Suddenly started having problems with the center focus point. When i focusing, the central point - focus floats, repeatedly rebuilt and hits or misses the target -50/50. wrote: When I got mine back from Canon after repairs they said there was a problem with the autofocus system and that they fixed it. The negativity centers around a decision Canon seems to have made that prioritizes resolution and liveview AF, over increasing the DR. I just did some further tests, there has been no improvement, I still have to micro-adjust by 10-11 on each lens. Very dissapointing to experience this with such an expensive body, especially when I was so happy with the original 6D. If you can still somehow return yours, I would highly recommend it Over the years I have bought and installed a variety of focus screen for the 5D, 5D2, 1D4 and 1Dx. Only one of about 8 screens did not have minor to significant back or front focus issues. The cause is tiny thickness difference in the new focus screen. These issues show themselves as OOF shots when the viewfinder is obviously in focus. Use AI FOCUS most of the time, since it automatically selects what it needs to do. AI SERVO. In AI SERVO, the 6D continuously tracks the subject. The AF system is always focusing in and out as the subject moves around. Use AI SERVO for sports or action shots of anything that's moving.
